Most people are visualizing wrong. And yes — there is a wrong way.
The flat version looks like this: you close your eyes and watch numbers climb in your bank account. You picture yourself in a nice house. You see yourself driving a car. You watch it all like a movie playing on a screen in front of you.
That version does almost nothing. It has no depth, no feeling, no embodiment. Your subconscious mind cannot tell the difference between something you experienced and something you vividly imagined — but only if you are actually inside the experience. The moment you are watching yourself from the outside, you have lost the mechanism entirely.
This is the formula that actually works.
BEFORE YOU BEGIN — THE SETUP
Your visualization practice is not something you drop into cold. The subconscious mind programs through emotion. If you come in tight, rushed, or in a low-level fight-or-flight state, that is the emotional signal you are embedding. The nervous system has to come down first.
Sit down. Breathe deep into your body — not a performed breath, a real one. Let everything slow. Feel the actual downtempo of your body underneath whatever you walked in with. A lot of people are running on a nervous system that has been in fight or flight so long it has become their normal. You have to consciously bring yourself out of that before you begin.…
